After D'ABOVILLE Foundation's three years of implementing a permaculture system at Station 2 in @Mounts Iglit-Baco Natural Park (MBINP), the lessons learned from this experience are now being incorporated in a permaculture design training held at the MIBNP Protected Area Management Office (PAMO).

The Philippine Permaculture Association (PPA) facilitated the conduct of the three-day training (June 18 to 20), where permaculture design principles, energy cycles, relationships and connections in nature in the context of a natural park were discussed. The training consisted of several interactive exercises, lectures, nature observation walks, free-wheeling exchanges of ideas and experiences, and two iterations of creating a permaculture design.

The main output of the training is a draft permaculture design for the area around the MIBNP PAMO at Station 1 based on the application of the design principles discussed that went through two iterations. The draft design currently on manila paper will be digitized using an appropriate software. This design will be presented to the PAMO management and eventually to the Protected Area Management Board.

The participants were technical staff, rangers (both Taobuid and non-Taobuid) of MIBNP PAMO and field staff of D’ABOVILLE Foundation and Demo Farm, Inc.
