During the Tamaraw Fiesta, the culminating event of the Tamaraw Month Celebration held on October 21, 2025, one of the event highlights was the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement on the Management and Protection of the SADIK Critical Habitat for Tamaraw and Other Threatened Species of Flora and Fauna.

The SADIK Critical Habitat refers to 𝗦iburan Forest, 𝗔ruyan Creek, 𝗗angari Mountain, π—œyason Mountain, and π—žinarawan River, collectively known as SADIK. The area is one of the last remaining strongholds of the critically endangered Tamaraw, the Mindoro Bleeding Heart Pigeon, and other threatened species.

The agreement formally establishes the SADIK Critical Habitat Management Board (CHMB) to lead the management and protection of this important landscape in Sablayan, Occidental Mindoro. It also strengthens the partnership among the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), the Municipal Government of Sablayan, the Bureau of Corrections, Sablayan Prison and Penal Farm (BUCOR-SPPF), and the Taobuid Indigenous Communities, who all share a commitment to conserving this ecologically and culturally significant area.

Through this Memorandum of Agreement, partners commit to protecting wildlife, enforcing environmental laws, recognizing Indigenous rights under the Indigenous Peoples Rights Act (IPRA) of 1997, and pooling resources for the implementation of the SADIK Critical Habitat Management Plan.

This is an initiative of Thriving Together with Tamaraw, a consortium led by Re:wild, in partnership with the D'Aboville Foundation and Demo Farm, Inc. (DAF) and the Mindoro Biodiversity Conservation Foundation, Inc. (MBCFI), with support from the Biodiversity Challenge Funds (BCF) through UK Aid.
