Tamaraws revealed by our camera trapping study highlighted in the new AWCSG BULLetin

Dear IUCN SSC Asian Wild Cattle Specialist Group members,

I am pleased to share with you the sixth issue of BULLetin, the newsletter of the IUCN SSC Asian Wild Cattle Specialist Group. BULLetin can be downloaded here; please share with anyone who may be interested. This issue profiles some of the amazing and diverse research that has been published so far this year, including news of wild yaks making a comeback in Nepal, a study on the gut microbiome of wild gaur, and sobering news regarding the decline of banteng in the Eastern Plains Landscape of Cambodia. Multiple articles also explore the threats, habitat preference and considerations for reintroductions of Wild water buffalo in their native range.

We hope you enjoy this issue. Issue 7 will be released at the end of 2021 – please get in touch with your news, updates and research on anoa, banteng, gaur, kouprey, soala, tamaraw, wild water buffalo and wild yak.

Many thanks,

Corinne Bailey
