The Taobuids who own the territory where the expansion area of the tamaraw safe reproduction zone in @Mounts Iglit-Baco Natural Park have completed the construction of a structure that would serve as their base when monitoring the area that would enable them to support the DENR in surveying and monitoring this part of the tamaraw landscape which is prone to poacher’s intrusion.

The IP (indigenous peoples) House is made of natural materials. The construction was supported by a grant from the Thriving Together with Tamaraw project, mainly in the form of food supplies for the IPs who worked as volunteers during the gathering of materials and in the actual construction.

The Taobuid signed an agreement with DENR for the expansion of a “safe zone” for the tamaraw in October 2024. Through the construction of the IP House, they are demonstrating their willingness to help in the protection of this area.

This activity is supported by the Biodiversity Challenge Funds through the Darwin Initiative under UK Aid for the Thriving Together with Tamaraw Project, a consortium composed of D’Aboville Foundation and  Mindoro Biodiversity, led by Re:wild.
