During its regular meeting last September 25, at the community center in Station 1 in MIBNP, the 24 Taobuid 𝘧𝘢𝘨𝘵𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘯𝘴, who composed their indigenous political structure, endorsed and agreed that their supreme leaders sign the 𝘬𝘢𝘴𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘶𝘢𝘯 (Memorandum of Agreement) between the Taobuids whose ancestral domain share areas with the park and the Mounts Iglit-Baco Natural Park management. 𝘛𝘢𝘯𝘶𝘯𝘨𝘢𝘯

(Supreme Leader) Fausto Novelozo would be the principal signatory for the Taobuids and DENR Mimaropa Regional Executive Director Felix Mirasol, CESO IV as chair of the MIBNP PAMB, would be the principal signatory for the park management.

The expansion of the tamaraw safe reproduction zone is one of the tamaraw conservation strategies of the Taobuid proposed by 𝘛𝘢𝘯𝘶𝘯𝘨𝘢𝘯 Fausto Novelozo three years ago and is now reflected in their Community Conservation Plan (CCP) in MIBNP. Their CCP includes a description of the Taobuid indigenous knowledge systems and practices (IKSP) and cooperative mechanisms for the collaborative management of the protected area that share areas with their ancestral domain.

Our work with the Taobuid and Mounts Iglit-Baco Natural Park - MIBNP is supported by Mandai Nature and UK DARWIN Initiative, in collaboration with Re:wild.
