Following new reports from local indigenous communities on the presence of tamaraw outside the range assessed previously, the DENR-Tamaraw Conservation Program launched a rapid survey to verify the information and decide next steps.
DAF provided support and expertise in the mission by conducting an assessment of the Aruyan-Malati patrolling team and an initial training on the use of SMART technology (Spatial Monitoring and Reporting Tool), aiming at improving their monitoring and patrolling efficiency. This mission also served as an opportunity to survey other areas and gain information from the Taobuid communities regarding the status and distribution of Tamaraw in Aruyan-Malati.
A work plan of activity will be elaborated for planning future actions.
