ย Landing in May 2022

Landing is a six-hectare stretch of relatively flat land near Station 2 in Mounts Iglit-Baco Natural Park that is also part of the ancestral domain of the Taobuid. The area specifically belongs to the territory of a clan in a settlement called Anaplahan. In 2021, the Taobuid agreed that the @D'ABOVILLE Foundation andย @Mounts Iglit-Baco Natural Park - Protected Area Management Office (MIBNP-PAMO) use the area to establish a food forest and an ecosystem restoration experimentation area. The last time the area got burned was in March 2021, because a fireline was established. The area burnedย annually, perhaps for the last eighty years,ย beingย part of a former ranchland. Fire-resistant trees that were burned in 2021 recovered and pioneer trees started colonizing the area. We also planted hardened wildlings collected from nearby forests. But the best-performing tree species are the ones that nature itself planted. The young trees in the area have survived two long dry seasons. Rangers (Taobuid and non-Taobuid) and Taobuid, even those from Tibabuid (highlands) communities, are working in the area, making it a natural laboratory and learning center for everyone interested.ย
