Presidential adviser on environment concerns during the term of the former Philippine President Benigno Aquino, Jr.
Sec. Nereus “Neric” Acosta, is one of the newest board members of the D’Aboville Foundation. He is a politician, academician, and political scientist in the Philippines.
He formerly served as a member of the House of Representatives for the first district of the province of Bukidnon (1998-2007). He is also the principal author of many revolutionary environment-related laws such as the Clean Air Act, the Clean Water Act, the Solid Waste Management Act, and the Biodiversity Protection Act.
Because of all his significant contributions, he was named as on of the 100 Most Influential Filipinos in 2002 and Ten Outstanding Young Persons (TOYP) – Asia Pacific by the Osaka, Japan Junior Chamber in 1995.
